The Good, The Bad, The Ugly of S1000D – developing a case for S1000D-based technical publications.
S1000D is where I spend a great deal of my time. Helping clients decide on if, when and how they should be investing in their technical publications. The debates then start with why S1000D and why not something else? Where are the benefits of using structured languages as opposed to traditional methods?
There are reasons why we would want to use a process-driven approach, like S1000D, and there are practical issues we need to consider. The future of technical publications is changing and how organisations can now turn to the publication and leverage XML-based structures way beyond the user-facing content.
In this free presentation, I will cover everything from The Good, The Bad and the Ugly of S1000D. We will take a look at why S1000D is solving specific problems yet introduces new challenges. Where is the Return on Investment with S1000D? The answer may not be as simple as you think. I close the presentation with my top ten things I see projects getting wrong when diving into S1000D.
